SINGAPORE, 16 December 2025 — The Global Fintech Institute (GFI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IGM Academy Sdn. Bhd. on 15 December 2025, establishing a strategic partnership to enhance fintech education and professional training in Malaysia.

The MOU provides a framework for collaboration in various educational and capacity-building initiatives, including joint webinars, delivery of professional learning through GFI’s Chartered Fintech Associate (CFtA) and Chartered Fintech Professional (CFtP®) programmes, and the delivery of executive short courses aligned with the needs of Malaysia’s management, investment, and financial services sectors.

This partnership aims to elevate industry standards, foster ethical practices, and cultivate a skilled, future-ready workforce in fintech and related fields.

Vincent Chan, Chief Operating Officer of the Global Fintech Institute, said:

By leveraging GFI’s globally recognised certification frameworks with IGM Academy’s deep expertise in lifelong learning and strong regional presence in Malaysia, we can create impactful pathways that bridge academic rigour with practical application—ultimately supporting a more resilient financial ecosystem.”

The collaboration also explores opportunities for jointly developed programmes to qualify under HRD Corp (formerly HRDF/PSMB) claimable schemes and other applicable funding mechanisms, subject to relevant guidelines and approvals.

Dr. Oliver Ho, Principal Director of IGM Academy, commented:

“This alliance opens valuable avenues for Malaysian organisations to upskill their teams in fintech, potentially supported by government training funds. In an era of rapid digital transformation, credible and structured professional development is essential for maintaining competitiveness and driving sustainable growth.”
