Global Fintech Institute Unveils Youth Wing at NTU FinTech Industry Day 2025

SINGAPORE, 21 November 2025 — The Global Fintech Institute (GFI) unveiled its newly formed GFI Youth Wing at NTU SPMS FinTech Industry Day 2025, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to nurturing the next generation of fintech talent.

Held at Nanyang Technological University’s School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, the Industry Day brought together academics, industry leaders, and regulators for a full day of dialogue on digital finance. Supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA), the event reflected Singapore’s broader strategy of advancing fintech through collaboration, experimentation, and shared learning.

Empowering Young Leaders Through Real-World Exposure

The GFI Youth Wing is designed to give students and early-career professionals a direct pathway into the fintech ecosystem. This initiative creates opportunities for young leaders to contribute to industry discussions, support GFI’s ongoing research and programmes, and gain hands-on experience at high-level events and panels.

The Youth Wing is led by Youth Wing Lead Ho Hui Yi and Deputy Lead Natalie Lim, who will guide the organisation of student initiatives, volunteer roles, and community engagement activities. Together, they aim to build a youth-driven platform where students can deepen their understanding of fintech, explore career possibilities, and connect with practitioners across the region.

A Dynamic Presence at NTU’s FinTech Industry Day

To mark the launch, GFI hosted an interactive “Find Your FinTech Future” Voting Board Activity at its booth. Students were invited to vote for one of four pathways—Payments & Product Design, AI & Analytics, Blockchain & Infrastructure, or Regulation & Policy—reflecting their personal interests and strengths.

Throughout the day, the board filled with signatures and stickers from NTU attendees, providing a visual snapshot of how students see their future roles in digital finance. GFI volunteers and interns guided students through each fintech domain, explained career opportunities, and pointed them to relevant employer booths across the exhibition hall.

Inspiring Conversations on Education, Policy, and Innovation

NTU FinTech Industry Day opened with an address by Associate Professor Patrick Pun Chi Seng, followed by a keynote from Mr Kenneth Gay, Chief Fintech Officer at MAS. Both highlighted the importance of strengthening talent pipelines and embedding responsible innovation within financial services.

The programme also featured a University Spotlight Talk by Professor Boh Wai Fong, NTU’s Vice President (Lifelong Learning and Alumni Engagement), who underscored the growing importance of upskilling in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

During the panel session moderated by Associate Professor Patrick Pun, speakers from MAS, the Singapore Fintech Association, Fiuu, and NTU examined how innovation, policy, and education must move in tandem to support sustainable fintech growth. Their discussion reinforced the need for early engagement with young talent—an imperative that aligns directly with GFI’s Youth Wing mission.

Building Pathways Through Certification and Community

As part of GFI’s broader education strategy, Youth Wing members will also have the opportunity to explore the Chartered Fintech Associate (CFtA) certification—GFI’s foundational programme for students and emerging professionals. CFtA equips learners with essential knowledge of fintech applications, digital payments, regulation, and risk. Outstanding students may be considered for future scholarship opportunities and talent acceleration programmes.

The Youth Wing will serve as an entry point for young leaders to participate in GFI’s global initiatives, including research activities, industry roundtables, and the wider FLEX International Hub community.
