Your Pathway to Professional Recognition in FinTech
GFI's certification framework is designed as a progressive pathway, allowing professionals to enter at the right level based on their background, and advance as their capability and experience grow.
Unlock Your Pathway in 3-Steps
Chartered Fintech Associate (CFtA)
Foundation Level
The CFtA is designed for individuals building their understanding of fintech fundamentals. It provides a structured introduction to finance, technology, regulation, and ethics, helping candidates develop a holistic view of how fintech operates across markets.
This step is ideal for those entering fintech, transitioning roles, or seeking a common knowledge baseline before advancing into more specialised or senior responsibilities.

Chartered Fintech Professional (CFtP®)
Advanced Certification
The CFtP® builds on foundational knowledge to focus on advanced applications, governance, technology risk, and global fintech trends. It is designed for professionals operating in regulated, high-impact environments where decisions require technical depth and sound judgement.
Candidates who progress to this stage demonstrate not only subject-matter expertise, but the ability to apply frameworks across complex, real-world contexts involving institutions, regulators, and cross-border operations.

CFtP® Charterholder Status
Recognized Professional
CFtP® Charterholder Status is awarded to professionals who have completed the CFtP® programme, met the required work experience criteria, and committed to GFI's ethical and professional standards. It represents a transition from certification to recognised professional standing.
Charterholders are recognised for their credibility, accountability, and readiness to lead. This status grants access to senior networks, leadership forums, and career opportunities, signalling trusted capability to employers, partners, and policymakers.

Direct Entry & Exemptions
GFI recognizes prior learning. Direct entry into CFtP® may be available for candidates with:
- Relevant university degrees from recognised institutions
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or equivalent
- Accredited programmes recognised by GFI
Eligible candidates may receive exemptions from selected foundation or Level 1 components, subject to review.
This ensures the pathway remains rigorous yet flexible, respecting prior learning while maintaining standards.
