13 May 2026, Singapore
Global Fintech Institute is pleased to announce its participation as an Ecosystem Partner of the 22nd edition of SingCham Shanghai's Tech Today Series, taking place on 27 May 2026 in Shanghai. Organised by the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in China and co-organised with the Artificial Intelligence International Institute (AIII), the session brings together founders, investors, and senior practitioners to examine how Generative and Agentic AI are reshaping business models, careers, and competitive strategy.
The theme of this edition, "The AI Waves: Why and How It Will Impact Your Business and Career, From DeepSeek to Crayfish, Navigating the Agentic AI Revolution," reflects the speed at which the conversation has shifted. Months after DeepSeek redefined expectations for open, cost-efficient model performance, attention has moved on to autonomous agents capable of executing multi-step workflows across marketing, product, finance, and operations. Drawing on case studies from China's digital economy, panellists will explore practical applications in marketing automation, personalised content generation, and design iteration, as well as the implications for team structures and the skills professionals will need to thrive in an AI-augmented workplace.
Representing Global Fintech Institute on the panel is Prof James Ong, Chairman of GFI's AI and Finance Subcommittee. Prof Ong is also the Founder and Managing Director of the Artificial Intelligence International Institute, Adjunct Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Champion of SingCham Shanghai's Technology and Innovations workgroup. His remarks will draw on his work bridging the Singapore and China AI ecosystems, with a particular focus on how the "Crayfish AI" framework can help leaders contextualise enterprise adoption and competitive positioning in a Chinese context.
For the Institute, the partnership reflects a wider commitment to convening rigorous, cross-border discussions on how technology reshapes financial services and the broader knowledge economy. Strengthening the Singapore-China corridor for fintech and AI dialogue is a strategic priority, and Tech Today Series has established itself as a credible forum for senior practitioners on both sides of that corridor.
The event will be held in hybrid English-Chinese format at KONNECT, 3F Park Avenue Central, 688 Changde Road, Shanghai, from 18:00 to 21:30 SGT/CST. Members of the Global Fintech Institute network are invited to register at the Ecosystem Partner rate of RMB 70, a 30% discount on the standard ticket, using promo code OMDT26TTS.
